When I read “Thought-life” would be the next topic for the Rubies Like Ruth, Philippians 4:8 was the first verse that came to my mind. I had been studying it from a completely different aspect but really, it’s all about your thought life.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
The application I’d like to give this verse today that it is a call to think on our Lord Jesus Christ. After all, nothing and no one is so
true,
honest,
just,
pure,
lovely,
of good report,
virtuous
or praiseworthy
as our Lord, Himself!

So, when the temptation comes
to fantasize about your future,
to listen to Satan’s presentation of a “fun” activity,
to dwell on the ungodly images popping up on the internet,
to wonder about a worldly lifestyle,
to consider the ugliness of sin as not so bad,
to imagine doing something that could not be well spoken of,
to wish, for a moment, not to be quite so “virtuous”,
to allow the thought of something that has no good in it,
FLEE!
Flee to thoughts of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is everything your thought-life needs. He will fill your heart with everything you need - maybe not everything you want right now – but you will find that what you need is far more satisfying after all.
Finally, sisters, think on Him.
