A Week of Thanksgiving! (Day 7)

“And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also
Ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.”
Colossians 3:15
Today, I am thankful for . . .
Ability. The mere fact that I was able to get up and walk is an amazing gift from God.

Don’t stop counting your blessings today! Keep a journal of the blessings God gives you every day. Next Thanksgiving, review your list of 365+ things to be thankful for!

A Week of Thanksgiving! (Day 6)

“Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness,
and for His wonderful works to the children of men!
And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And declare His works with rejoicing.”
Psalm 107:21
Today, I am thankful for . . .
Freedom. I have the freedom to go to church, read my Bible, and pray without anyone threatening. Oh, how grateful I am for religious freedom!

A Week of Thanksgiving! (Day 5)

“Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
Singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Ephesians 5:19-20

Today, I am thankful for . . .
Ministry. The fact that God can use someone like me always amazes me!

A Week of Thanksgiving! (Day 4)

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known unto God.”
Philippians 4:6
Today, I am thankful for . . .
My family. Though we are all far from perfect, God has given us all the desire to serve Him and live for Him. I honestly have a wonderful family.

A Week of Thanksgiving! (Day 3)

“I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving,
and will call upon the name of the Lord.”
Psalm 116:17

Today, I am thankful for . . .
All that God uses to grow me to be more Christ-like – the good things as well as the bad. Painful though it might be at times, God has used even the difficult times to help me grow closer to Him.

A Week of Thanksgiving! (Day 2)

 “In every thing give thanks:
For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Today, I am thankful for . . .
God’s Word. God has used it so much in my life this year to show me where I have failed, to encourage me, to convict me, and to guide me. It is indeed the road-map for life.

A Week of Thanksgiving! (Day 1)

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise:
Be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.”
Psalm 11:4

Today, I am thankful for . . .
God – for His love, His grace, His mercy, His faithfulness, His power, His strength, and my list could go on and on. He is continually showing me just how great He is and how much I truly need Him in every part of my life.

A Week of Thanksgiving!

Feel free to copy this photo and use for your own blog!!

I know many girls have challenged their readers with 31 days of thanksgiving, but I thought that we would add to the thankfulness challenges with a simple week of thanksgiving here at Rubies Like Ruth.

Starting Sunday, November 20, 2011, I challenge you to daily list things for which  you are thankful– especially things that have taken place since last Thanksgiving. But do not just list them. Stop and lift up a prayer to God, thanking Him for the extra blessings He has bestowed on you this year.

Ideas to help you:
~Post the your thankfulness on your blog (you do not have to include our photo)
~Write your thankfulness on an index card, decorative paper, or whiteboard in your room
~Post it on Facebook (if you have an account)
~And, we would be honored if you slipped by every day and shared your thankfulness with us via comments

We look forward to you joining us for this time of reflecting on God’s blessings.

Psalm 145

In my devotions the other day, God really used this chapter to speak to me. I encourage you to slowly read through it and reflect on all the amazing qualities it lists of our Heavenly Father. ~Ana Renee

1    I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless Thy name for ever and ever.
2    Every day will I bless Thee; and I will praise Thy name for ever and ever.
3    Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and His greatness is unsearchable.
4    One generation shall praise Thy works to another, and shall declare Thy mighty acts.
5    I will speak of the glorious honour of Thy majesty, and of Thy wondrous works.
6    And men shall speak of the might of Thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.
7    They shall abundantly utter the memory of Thy great goodness, and shall sing of Thy righteousness.
8    The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.
9    The LORD is good to all: and His tender mercies are over all His works.
10   All thy works shall praise Thee, O LORD; and Thy saints shall bless Thee.
11   They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of Thy power;
12   To make known to the sons of men His mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of His kingdom.
13   Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Thy dominion endureth throughout all generations.
14   The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.
15   The eyes of all wait upon Thee; and Thou givest them their meat in due season.
16   Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.
17   The LORD is righteous in all His ways, and holy in all His works.
18   The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon Him, to all that call upon Him in truth.
19   He will fulfil the desire of them that fear Him: He also will hear their cry, and will save them.
20   The LORD preserveth all them that love Him: but all the wicked will He destroy.
21   My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless His holy name for ever and ever.

In our Mouth or our Heart?

By Ana Renee

“. . . Thou art near in their mouth, and far from their reins.” Jeremiah 12:2b

In modern Christianity, there is a “Christian lingo.” We work hard to talk and act like we think Christians should.

One must go further than a simple lingo, though, and ponder the heart. We might easily deceive others into thinking that our life is alright and with a little practice, become fluent in the Christian lingo. But we cannot deceive God. He does not simply look for us to sound good. He wants us to give Him the reins of their life, and have Him close in our hearts.

Is your Christianity just a lingo, or is it an issue of the heart?

Additional Verses:
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: Isaiah 29:13

And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. Ezekiel 33:31

This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. Matthew 15:8

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Titus 1:16
