Why Rubies Like Ruth

“Rubies Like Ruth” is a name derived from two significant examples in the Bible.

Our first example is the “Virtuous Woman” in Proverbs 31. When introducing this woman, the question is asked, “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.” (Proverbs 31:10) The passage continues to explain the qualities that encompass the Virtuous Woman.

Our second example is a widowed Moabite who left her people to follow the true God that her mother-in-law served. In the book of Ruth, we see many qualities that line up with the Virtuous Woman of Proverbs 31. Her future husband and the people of the city saw her virtue. “. . . All the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.” (Ruth 3:11)

By combining these two examples, we have a good pattern to follow in our quest to become a Virtuous Woman. However, the world is out to trap young ladies and deceive them with its many lies. We, as sisters in the Lord, need to help encourage and build one another up.

It is my prayer that this blog will be an encouragement and a tool to help you as you seek to become another ruby like Ruth.

“Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labour. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up.”
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.”

Proverbs 27:17
