While He lived on earth, Jesus Christ was probably most commonly known as the Son of David. There are many Scriptures that verify Jesus as the Son of David.
The Promise to David
And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David. (2 Samuel 7:16-17)
The Genealogy of Christ
The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham . . . And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. (Matthew 1:1, 16)
The Fulfillment of Prophecy
Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? (John 7:42)
And when He had removed him, He raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also He gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will. Of this man's seed hath God according to His promise raised unto Israel a Saviour, Jesus: (Acts 13:22-23)
The Acknowledgment of Others
“And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.” (Matthew 9:27)
And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. (Matthew 15:22)
While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is He? They say unto him, The Son of David. (Matthew 22:41-42)
The Proclamation of Himself
I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. (Revelation 22:16)
