Slowing Down

The time has come that comes to so many blogs where we must “slow down.” As things have gotten busy, I have been praying about which things to cut and which things to focus on. I have known for a while that eventually Rubies Like Ruth would be one of those things that must be cut. I am not officially saying “farewell” to our faithful readers, but I cannot promise that there will be many new posts. We will leave this blog open for anyone who would like to read the archives and we are still open to guest writers. If anyone submits a guest article, you will read something new! :)

For those of you who are interested, we are continuing our 52-Verse challenge over at 52weeks52verses.blogspot.com if you would like to join us or read our posts. It is never too late to start memorizing God’s Word!!

I have learned a lot while doing Rubies Like Ruth regularly and pray that God will direct each of us to follow Him more as daughters, single women, wives, and mothers.

1 year, 200 posts!

I am very grateful to the Lord for allowing us to reach one year at Rubies Like Ruth! I have learned many lessons in the last year with Rubies Like Ruth and have been blessed in many ways.

A special “thank-you” to every staff writer, guest writer, and photographer/artist who has given your time and talents to help Rubies Like Ruth be a blessing to others.

I look forward to what God might have in store for us at Rubies Like Ruth!

Draw Your Swords, Girls!

Happy New Year!! I am sure that we all are looking back at the past year, reflecting on the many blessings and trials God brought us through. At the same time, we are looking ahead to the unknown future. What will God have for us in 2012??

Many of you have “New Year Resolutions.” While I do not have any of these, there is one challenge that I pray many of us will stay faithful in, and that is the 52-verse challenge: memorizing one verse each week this year. Yesterday was the official start of this challenge, and it will continue, God willing, until December 31, 2012. Who will draw their sword and come on this journey with me?

Change of Plans . . .

Dear Rubies Like Ruth readers,

Today we were supposed to begin looking at the topic of Sibling Relationships. However, God has led me to postpone this study until October. For the month of September, Rubies Like Ruth will be a quiet blog as I feel the need to spend time away from it and seek God’s will. I apologize for this sudden change of plans, but I will appreciate your prayers as I seek God’s will and not my own.

More Changes :)

As I have thought a little more practically about posting monthly topics, I have realized that it would probably work better to post topics every-other-month. Thus, our next topic-month will not be August, but September.

Having non-topic months will allow several things to take place:
     ~We will be able to focus on the topic during its month and prepare for the next topic during the non-topic months (Writers will have more time to study and put thought into the articles they write)
     ~We would be able to keep our "Bake on Wednesdays" on the non-topic months
     ~If anyone submits an article that does not apply to a specific topic we are studying, we can post it

I am thrilled about our first topic month starting in just five days! Check back often in July for different articles, verses, and quotes reflecting the importance of purity.

Please Help "Rubies Like Ruth"

When I began to pray about starting Rubies Like Ruth, my thoughts leaned towards a magazine. I love the idea of girls sharing with each other, but at this season in my life, I do not feel that I have the time it would take to run a magazine. Instead, the Lord has led me start a “blogazine.” Unlike a magazine, where I would be bound to a deadline, a blogazine will allow me to post when I have time and material.

Although I plan to be a major contributor, I would also like your help. Has the Lord been teaching you something recently? Has He gifted you in writing or photography? If so, please prayerfully consider submitting your work to be posted on Rubies Like Ruth. Please look at the guidelines page to see if your article/picture follows the rules. If your article/picture falls under the approval of the guidelines, do not hesitate to email me a copy at rubieslikeruth@gmail.com!
